The Colon Age

What's making me happy

My colonoscopy is over.
It went well.
They found two tiny polyps.
Other than that, everything looked good.
I have pictures but I think you can probably go the rest of your lives without seeing that.
The doctor who performed the procedure looked a lot like Adam Scott.

The last thing I heard before the nighty night meds kicked in was the "Summer of '69" by Bryan Adams.
As some of you mentioned, the prep was the worst.
I lost 10 pounds and quit counting how many times I went to the bathroom after 15 visits.
I had a big breakfast after I was released back into the wild and didn't do much of anything on Friday except sleep and binge watch a few shows.

What's making me happy part 2

I am getting older.
Every day.
But this week marks a milestone as the anniversary of my birth is Saturday.
Yay me!
I took Friday off and plan on hanging out with Mrs. Shife while the kids are at school.
We might go for a hike or she might talk me into going hot tub shopping.
Then we are hanging out with some friends on my birthday.
I also think I might be playing fetch with Frizzle.
I am a lucky guy and grateful for all that I have.

Updates

I get my second COVID shot next Monday.
Wish me luck.
Also, any suggestions on what I should wear?
I went with the shirt below for my first shot.
I was feline good and wanted to make it a pawsitive experience.

Observations

I was listening to the latest Smartless podcast and their guest was astronaut, Jessica Meir.
It was a highly entertaining interview and one of the highlights for me was that I learned that astronauts get the opportunity to make a phone call to a person that they find inspirational or fascinating when they are on a space mission. Jessica tried to call Will Arnett but never made a connection but she ended up talking to her back-up, David Attenborough.
Who would be your first choice and back-up?
For me, my #1 would be Jon Stewart and my back-up would be Dave Chappelle

I will try and do better.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  1. Glad your Colon test wasn't too bad. My first went great. Clean bill of health and didn't have to have another for ten years. This past time, there was on polop and I gotta go back after five, which comes up next year... And in a week, I will be fully covered (or 94% covered) by my COVID vaccine. I just made sure I had a shirt that I could easily pull up over my biceps. For my first shot, I had to take my shirt off, but that's because of my working out... I wish.

  2. Glad the colonoscopy went well. What a nice early birthday present you got. Which leads to Happy Early Birthday, sir! And cheers to many more.
Lastly, that last meme is correct, but in out house it's the sound of a cat hair-balling that gets us flying from deep sleep!

  10. My date with the Assman is coming up quickly.

I've had both shots and it's been two weeks so I'm officially mostly immune to that damn virus... for now. I hope to never lose my sense of smell for three months again.

I'm a science nerd so I would go with Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Haven't had a dog in decades and that sound instantly came rushing back.

  12. Had my colonoscopy too. And like you the prep was the worst part. I had a big bag of Doritos (taco flavored) when it was done. As I was leaving one of the nurses said that I mumbled Doritos during the procedure.

  13. I thought the prep was much better than it used to be, but perhaps not? I'm on the 5 year plan which leaves me another 3 years or so until my next "date" with the toilet. Thanks for not sharing the shots; there is a reason we wear skin over the interior of our bodies. The family picture is wonderful! Happy Early Birthday to you!

  14. Good news on the clean bill of health! They had to give me extra meds because I wouldn’t shut up. They even asked my hubby afterwards if I talk a lot when I’m nervous. Lol! HappyBirthday! You do have a great family! Have a fun weekend.

  15. 1. Good job on the good colonoscopy.
    2. On his first such test, my bil asked the dr. for a copy of the video on the screen, to general laughter in his cubicle.
    3. Having a nice wife, great kids and a good dog isn't all down to luck. Just saying.

  18. Three cheers on your colonoscopy! My first and only one so far went well and was uneventful, other than my sear wife and the technician laughing at me coming out of the drug-induced dreamland. Birthday greetings as well, and that dog puke alarm thing is awesome, though in our case a cat puking would be better. For whatever reason, when our one cat starts the upchucking noise only my wife hears it, then I wake up from her scrambling out of bed to make sure the cat spews on the hardwood floor. We tag team on the clean-up, then try to get right back to sleep. Sounds like you've got an awesome life there, my friend. My best to you.

  19. I just, as in an hour ago, received my 2nd shot. I have no idea if I'm tired because of the shot or if it's just been a long day. Act surprised when you see that again on my blog. That's a good line.

  21. I have always passed on the Colonoscopy, my SIL had one go sideways that perforated her Colon and she almost Died. Perfectly Healthy when she went in for the procedure, now she has major problems for Life. You sign a disclaimer apparently, so she's just screwed. It all sounded dreadfully risky to me... many procedures do tho'... and since I've known peeps who did Die during an optional procedure to check for problems that might not even exist, I'm a skeptic on how much I need to know if I don't have something or not... to take that risk when I seem perfectly Well. I'm glad yours went well tho', pictures, well, that was a Bonus??? *LMAO*
