The Power of Positivity

There aren't many positives to having COVID but one thing is that my shit doesn't stink.
Literally.
I mean it probably does but I can't smell it.
I still can't smell anything.
I think it has been about 10 days now.
I also finally lost my taste buds too.
It happened a few days ago.
I also still have a lot of nasal congestion but most of the other symptoms have gone away.
Thanks for thinking of me and the family during this time.
It sucked but I feel pretty fortunate that we are able to get through it as well as we did because some people haven't been as lucky.

Vanishing Act

Another thing that happened is my geographic tongue disappeared.
If you are unfamiliar with GT, it is a condition where you get a bunch of red patches all over your tongue.
So much fun.
After having it for almost 10 years, it is more annoying than anything.
But for whatever reason, it is gone for the time being.

Back to Work

After being out for almost 2 weeks, I went back to working from home this past Wednesday.
I am still not as productive as I could be but I am making progress.

Streaming Options

I am glad I was able to go back to work because I getting bored with myself.
All I was doing was sleeping or watching stuff on my devices.
I didn't finish Netflix but it sure felt like it.
Do you have any show recommendations?
I finished The Boys, Umbrella Academy, seasons 14 and 15 of Supernatural, Gangs of London, The Undoing, Animal Kingdom, and The Good Lord Bird.

Personal Best

This will be my 100th post for the year. It is the most blogging I have done since 2006.
When I first started blogging in 2005, I made 224 updates and I haven't come close since then.
Working from home and the pandemic helped increase my frequency this year and I think I will try to stick to the 2x/week approach in 2021.
But, until I feel better, I think I will stick to 1x/week.
Plus, I don't have a lot to talk about since I am stuck at home and need new shows to watch.

Dad Jokes

Take care and thanks for stopping by.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  3. So, a case of Covid will end my geographic tongue. I've had it at least 40 years.
You get healthy for next year, and stay that way.

  7. It is good to hear from you. I'm sorry you are still having physical problems but I am so glad you managed to stay out of the hospital. I hope the rest of your family has improved.

Did you just watch the last two seasons of Supernatural or had you already seen the other seasons? We just started it from season one a couple of years ago and loved them all. I assume you have seen Breaking Bad but if not that's a great one.

Please take care and don't overdo!

  11. The lack of smells can be a good thing, sometimes, but only if by choice.
The taste business would freak me out.
At least COVID didn't attack your sense of humor!
We don't Netflix or stream in our house, but we have been watching The Undoing with my BFF Nicki Kidman. We have seen all the episodes of Animal Kingdom, and I just found the Aussie film , by the same name, on which the series was based, so we'll watch that, too.

  12. I don't pretend to have good taste when it comes to binge watching things, but some of my favorites have been:

    Breaking Bad
    Sopranos
    Sons of Anarchy
    Yellowstone
Narcos (There is several versions of this because they go from Columbia to Mexico but all are really good.)

I should note that some of these are free through Amazon Prime and not on Netflix but I don't remember which is which since I have both and flip between them.

  14. I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. -crazy to think that one loses the sense of taste and smell with this condition.

As for Netflix tips....well, hmm...did you watch all the Black Mirror episodes yet? The Good Place, now on Netflix, is a light-hearted romp. That could be fun. Russian Doll with Natasha Lyonne was spectacular, if you've not already seen it. The Witcher, fantasy fare, is based on a video game, I think, and was a good watch. The first ep. was annoying, so you've got to get past that in order to enjoy.

    1. Thank you, Bea. I have watched Black Mirror and The Good Place. I will have to add Russian Doll to the list as you aren't the only one who said good things about it. I will also take your advice into consideration regarding The Witcher.

  15. So good to read you're feeling better!
Ugh. Can't wait until there's SOMETHING that can be done about Covid.
And I also started in 2005! I was just posting about that after a question from Infidel.
And I loved The Umbrella Academy.
I would try Sense8, Wallander, Ratched, The Politician, Gentefied and anything with Anna Gadsby. If you don't mind subtitles, Diablero, Ragnarok, Wu and Freaks are all good.

    XOXO

  16. I don't think I get the tongue thing. But if it wasn't wanted and is now gone...good! I am glad you are all fairing pretty well. What scares me about the smell and taste is that is also a sign of Alzheimers. We just don't know enough about this dreaded virus. They say it will take a few weeks after even being covid negative to get your energy back. So give yourself a break. I just watched I'm Your Woman on Netflix which I sure didn't think it would involve organized crime, new identies, violence etc. Interesting, got rave reviews, but I just thought it okay but then I'm bored with everything.
