Random Acts of Shifeness - Survival Mode

  • The first week of school is done.
I feel like I'm juggling chainsaws while dealing with an excellent case of jock itch but we'll manage.
  • Thank you for the Ms. Frizzle love.
    She is doing much better.
  • I know a lot of us can't wait to put 2020 in the rearview mirror but it seems crazy that it is almost September.
  • On our vacation, I got fascinated by the American Bison.
Not sure why but it felt like it was speaking to me.
    Maybe it was the peyote.
    Ha. I kid.
    I only do mushrooms.
    I kid again.
    Anyway, they are captivating creatures.

  • I am not sure why I am making a face like duct tape is getting removed from my inner thigh but that's me in my new Bison hat.
  • We had to rearrange desks and work stations at the house to get Kyle and Hayden ready for school so the squad got relocated thanks to Hayden.
    Who is the squad?
    It's these guys:

Red = He's from Angry Birds
Gene = Your favorite cowbell musician
Ed = Clark's favorite in-law
Ron = Your favorite Parks employee
Pete = Who ya gonna call?

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Thanks for stopping by and I will talk to you soon.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  1. I bet you like bisons because one is on your hat! No? Did you see them this summer and then buy a hat in a park? Also buy your Favorite Parks Employee for Kyle?
I also hope week one went very well.

  2. May the kids enjoy 'zoom school'! I heard from a friend living in the UK that kids are going back to school sans masks. They are to be grouped in 'bubbles' of 200 children. I'm not sure how this is a good idea. Anyway, in the face of so much not going well here in the US, at least children will be safely ensconced at home for just a while longer.

    1. They are doing OK in 'zoom school', Bea. They really miss interacting with their friends and the work isn't as stimulating for them.

  3. Bison tastes good too... but yes, they are excellent Creatures that managed to come back from the brink of extinction. During Pandemic there's things I never thought I'd consider trying, such as Peyote and Mushrooms, to take the Edge off enduring a Plague, that feels like juggling Chainsaws with an itch... not kidding. *LOL* The Grandson thinks I should at least do Weed in edibles, he says I'm probably the only Dreadhead on the Planet that isn't? All his Friends always thought his Gramma certainly must know where to get the Good Kush... and didn't Believe him when he said I abstained. *LMAO* First Week of School... yours started later than mine, she's about in Week 3 and her Algebra Teacher called Today to say she's been MIA from her 7th Hour Class for 3 Days now... BUSTED! Well, she is Special Needs and I'm sure Algebra is way over her Head and I know The Man and I can't help her and her Uncle whose living with us Graduated before she was even born... so she's kinda flying Solo without any Copilots. I told the Teacher's Aide that so that they will get a Special Ed Teacher to finally contact me and see how they can modify her curriculum to meet her at her point of Need? The Special Ed kiddos have not been addressed yet, Teachers and Admin are so in over their poor Heads in all of this, aren't they, Bless 'em! We all are... so we juggle dangerous things as best we all can without getting hurt or deaded. BTW: I have some POP Figures too, the entire Munsters Set, some of the Addams Family Set, Jack Skeleton, Lady Muerta... I'm having a difficult time Sourcing a Morticia. The Antique Mall sells those things like crazy, I Wish I had Stock in whoever Invented them!

    1. I am glad the bison have come back from extinction. It is one of the few animals we have managed to help out instead of eliminate.

  7. Bison are fascinating creatures! Scary up close, but then you notice the slobber hanging off their chin beards. One of my kids has a collection of those characters and I can’t seem to ever remember who they are.

  9. I guess I'm lucky to be able to view bison at the Sandia Puebloan reservation anytime I drive down Tramway to I25....one year they had a bison calf that was white!
Keep on, I'm sure y'all are doing a wonderful job while we're all home waiting for .... well, life to resume to some semblance of normalcy. Some day.

  10. Ohhh the school year!
Bracing myself for that one. And I love the hat! I've never seen a bison in person. Bet they're imposing!
Love the squad! Love me some Funko Pop! And I really like the color on your walls! And the artwork! You should follow the advice I gave you in my blog about doing a surprise makeover for your wife. Bet it would be super cool.

    XOXO

    1. Thanks, Sixpence. We hired someone with an eye for that kind of stuff to help us pick out the colors.

  11. Only one Funko POP here... a Baby Groot who hangs off my backpack. The kids love looking at all the little critters and miscellaneous stuff that's hanging on the zippers etc. LEGO guys, turtles, little bracelets made from rubber bands that they made for me, little strings with some beads..

I hope school goes well for your young people. This is a good opportunity to explore and learn things that aren't from a curriculum. I always say you can't stop a child from learning.

Ran into one of 'my' parents at the store on Saturday, she said her daughter did okay with computer school but misses her friends and her teacher... and me.

Added her to the list of kids who want to make crafts and post them on our craft page.

    1. Baby Groot is a good one to have, Ami. My kiddos really miss their friends and that is the hardest part for them right now.

  12. I see you're as crazy as a shithouse rat. That's what parenthood will do to you! I'm 64 and I'm still recovering. I think it's a thing you never quite recover from because if you ask anyone who knows me they will tell you that I'm crazy. I just sat here in silence for a moment and thought about it and yes, I will agree, but to my defense, it's primarily due to bearing children and having to raise those children to be responsible human beings. Geez! That'll put anyone in a straight jacket. I swear sometimes I wondered if they even put brains inside a child's head or if there was some mechanism you had to wind it up in order for it to work. Now, mine are all adults, I do get the luxury of sitting back and smiling and knowing I did a good job, but in those formative years I was cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs! I can tell you're a great dad and I bet when you're my age you'll still have some of those things around your house...because I do. Those little things over time seem to be what mean the most when we look back.

  15. I like bison. They're tasty.
I haven't had a collection of figures on my desk in a while. Most of them I gave away in a 'this does not spark joy' mindset, long before that was popular.

    2. I thought maybe you were a Buffalo Bills fan (or maybe a Buffalo Bison fan, as they are the city's 3A team whose stadium is currently being taken over by Blue Jays from Toronto. Buffalo meat is good, but a little drier than beef so you have to be careful cooking it.
