Buh Bye June

  • I got mad at a guy going the wrong way down a one-way street a few days ago.
But then I laughed because it reminded me of a time when I was walking back home from the bars in college with some buddies and we noticed a car going the wrong way.
We yelled at him and said it's a one-way street.
And he said, "I am going one way."
  • I have mentioned previously on the blog that I have developed a bad habit during the lockdown of not brushing forgetting to brush my teeth.
    Well, I did it again.
I remembered that I had yuck mouth as I was out and about running errands.
Then I remembered that I am wearing a mask so I should be good.
    Problem solved.
But I should really do a better job with my teeth.
  • This GIF was created yesterday, which was June 29:

  • The reason why we were running our fire pit is because Boise had a record low temperature of 59 degrees and we also got a lot more rain. I think the weatherman said this is the fourth-wettest month ever. So glad to be a part of that history.
  • Selfie best practices: Do not face the sun when you are attempting to take a selfie.

  • We attempted to hike Cervidae Peak.
We were unsuccessful. Too windy and we didn't have the right footwear to take on all of the loose gravel but we will be back.
We did get a pretty good view before we had to turn around.

  • I donated blood last week and they also screened my blood for the COVID-19 antibodies.
    I came back negative.
  • Some of my favorite 2020 memes I saw this week:

  • I will probably take a break on Friday from posting because we will be celebrating the Fourth of July with family. I hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend and I will talk to you next week.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

    2. I love the guy that was going one way! That sounds like a college town! I think your dog is looking for someone to start up the barbeque instead of the firepit. He's thinking outside fires should include meat. That picture from your hike is beautiful!

I hope you and your family have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend!

    1. Well if you ever decide to visit, I will be more than happy to be a tour guide. Take care and enjoy the holiday weekend.

  3. The selfie is perfect! And the photo from where you were hiking is beautiful. It's in the 90s here and Friday it will be a cool 96 degrees with equal humidity. Don't visit until fall ...unless of course we combust. It's possible, I'm a suburb of DC. :-) I used to utter that phrase "i'm only going one way" all the time. (don't ask) Happy 4th!!

  4. I have a friend in Emmett. Spent some time there about 40 years ago (time flies, doesn't it?).
I actually really loved Idaho and would move there now if someone would pay for it and make sure we had money to live on for a year or so.

I like the photo from your hike. I'm having more and more trouble with the knee, so pretty sure living vicariously through others is my best option for now.

    1. Emmett is lovely. =)
Sorry to hear about the knee but I will be happy to show you more of my lovely state.

  5. How I hope you and the family keep hiking, Idaho and then the rest of the states around you. It is, to me, a very difference and fascinating place to live. Different trees, different terrain, different rivers from here in NE Ohio. Many of our dams are coming down. But they were built a hundred or more years ago for very different reasons.

    1. We are going to do our best, Joanne. I feel very fortunate to live in such a beautiful place and I would be a bad father if I didn't show my kids how lucky they are to live where they live.

  7. I'm either the one going the wrong way in the aisle or scowling at others that do. Sometimes I back in so I'm at least headed the right way, ha. Love your firepit; we've wanted to use ours (wood) but it's been windy for at least a week. Lovely view for not going all the way! This one in Idaho looks lovely but it's probably too far away for you: https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/idaho/1-mile-waterfall-hike-id/

    1. Bonners Ferry is quite the trip but we have been talking about going up to Sandpoint and Lake Pend Oreille so maybe we will keep on going. Thanks for the link.

  8. Oh my goodness, that's a stunning view you had there. The hills are beautiful - they look like velvet from that far away. Your kids are lucky to be shown the beauty of their region.
Love the selfie. Perfect is so boring! I'd rather have a shot like that.
Were you happy or unhappy about the lack of COVID-19 antibodies? I can see an argument for either or both.
The kitty in the wok make me laugh!
And Ms Frizzle looks quite comfy there. I think Bonnie's right - "where's the meat, bud?"
    Have a wonderful July 4th, S. Family.

    1. I think I was expecting to test positive because we had a whole bunch of sick people in our house last January and they weren't experiencing normal flu symptoms. But I also don't know how long antibodies stay in your system so it is what it is. I am just glad me and the family are healthy.

  9. Have a Memorable 4th of July. I borrowed that JASON Meme! Those views were sublime, glad you're getting out in Nature to exercise, here most of those types of things are Closed but they still have Bars and Tattoo Parlors Open, go figure!

    1. Borrow away, Bohemian. I borrowed it from somewhere and I couldn't tell you where. We had to shut down our bars again and I haven't heard the latest on when they might open.

  10. What a beautiful part of the country you live in and I think I'd trade 59 degrees for the heat and humidity along the Redneck Riviera this time of year. Kudos on donating blood and testing negative. I hope your Fourth of July was wonderful. I think everyone around here saved up to buy fireworks that they'll shoot off all month long (eyeroll)...one of my dogs definitely does not like it and clings to me during the drunken nightly firework display.

    1. Extremely grateful that we don't have humidity, Mildred. My parents lived in the Midwest so we always scheduled our visits before it got too bad out there. Hope the fireworks party has settled down a bit.
