The 'Hood

Hi there.
How are you doing?
I am well.
Thanks for asking.
I am still recovering from a long holiday weekend.
There were multiple kickball games with family and friends.
At my advanced age, any sort of "multiple" activities are going to lead to some aches and pains.
Good times.
Another interesting thing happened over the weekend.
Our neighbors put their house on the market.
And our other neighbors wanted to let all of the potential buyers know what was up.

We had family in town over the long weekend so I haven't had a chance to talk to them but I don't think it was a coincidence that they put up a gay pride flag right after the for sale sign went up.
The people that are moving out were not the friendliest and they also were involved in a religion that doesn't appreciate relationships that don't consist of a man and a woman.
I think it's great and I hope we get some nice, new neighbors that are a little more open-minded.
This whole thing also reminded me of the movie "Step Brothers."
It's a good one and I highly recommend it.
Anyhoo, the brothers are upset that their parents are selling their house and they take matters into their own hands.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  2. I'd say that's genius on the part of the neighbours with the flag. It should weed out the unwanted :) It's always a bit of a nail-biter when a neighbour's house is for sale, wondering who you're going to get. The house right next to us has had many owners, including a fairly well known hockey player who had a firepit (smoke sets off my asthma, yay) and occasionally had loud pool parties complete with a lot of "f" words used creatively when he was drinking. Thank goodness they moved on :)

  3. I think the flag is hilarious! Here's hoping you get some nice open-minded neighbors!

And hey - what's this about your "advanced age"? Ha!

  4. Your neighbours are almost more important than your house. We've moved several times purely because of our neighbours.

  5. Hanging a Pride flag is GOOD. Especially if new people are gonna move in. I think I'm going to fly my little Pride flag, too!
Glad the fundies left. Ugh. There's some of those in each neighborhood.
Hope you recover soon from all that KickBall!

I watched Step Brothers and it was a hoot!

    XOXO

  7. I drove by a house in the township that added a flag to its pole. I asked around, then checked google, and it's true. There is a flag the size of the American flag above it, and it says T***P. Gag; I cannot even type it. I may have to organize a gay flag brigade on that road.

  8. The last Home we Sold was due to the Neighborhood... the Neighbors and the Community are more important than any structure you might buy. I'm glad your Neighbors flew their Pride Flag and also glad you're getting rid of the Fundies. The Home we Sold had them everywhere, one told my then Teen Gay Grandson, right after we moved in, that his Grandparents should be "Praying the Gay away!" Who says that to a Child, he thought it was hilarious and refused to take offense, simply saying, "Oh, so THAT'S how it works!?" I Love that Kid and how he responds to prejudices and ignorance.

  11. LOL! I keep a Pride flag out front and back yard. I have wonderful gay neighbors. The plus is, you'll never see a gay boy with a bad looking yard.

  12. Interesting way to create diversity! Thankfully, most of our neighbors are pretty good.
