T-Minus 21 Days

I saw this today and thought it seemed appropriate during these crazy times.
I thought this was all I was going to post today but then I am remembered that I am being a dweeb and that sent me on another down another rabbit hole.
When is the last time you heard that word, dweeb?

It makes me think of "The Breakfast Club."
Do you remember "You're a neo-maxi-zoom-dweebie?"

I can't believe that movie came out in 1985.
That is 35 years ago for your math majors.
One thing before I get even more sidetracked is that when I first saw the movie as a teenager I thought Brian's letter to Mr. Vernon at the end of the movie was deep, poetic and well-articulated but when I re-watched it ... not as much.
It was short and to the point but not as impactful as I remembered.
It's amazing how your perspective changes.
Reminds of this quote from Marcel Proust.

OK.
Back to being a dweeb.
I am being a dweeb because I am vegging out with the lovely Mrs. Shife and watching "Ozark."
It's been a long week and I am in "Calgon, take me away" mode.

I am really aging myself today.
I hope to do better tomorrow.
Stay safe, take care and thanks for being there.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  2. Saw that film in the theater when it came out. I've since watched it as an adult and it doesn't hold up in the way I had hoped. I think that that is the case for all those John Hughes flicks and the like. Some Kind of Wonderful is particularly difficult to watch these days. ('Jake' a la Sixteen Candles is still a hottie though.)

  3. Third attempt! Every time I tried to post a remark your blog was whipped out of sight. I give up, but not before saying Hi!

  6. John Hughes really distilled American adolescence in the eighties with his movies. One weekend last year we watched Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles And the Breakfast Club one after the other. My fav is of course, Pretty in Pink because Duckie and records.
The photo with the donkey. Darn. It’s like Cheetolini’s response to the pandemic in a photo.

Now I wanna watch eighties movies.

  7. Recently saw a facebook post that showed a photo from one of our local grocery stores:
"Bread is limited to 3 loaves per purchase", then next to that was "Buns on sale 4 for $5!!".

Ah, the times we live in. Take care...

  11. I love Ozark. Also getting caught up on Saul, so I alternate every night between the two. I live a very boring life compared to those two shows.
