Turkey Day 2019

Twas the night after Thanksgiving, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even my yellow dog blouse

And that's all I got.

So how was your turkey day?
We put on our eating pants and had a good time at Casa de Shifley.

We were fortunate enough to host a nice group of family and friends.
I did my best to not overdo it but I ate too much, watched too much football and probably drank a little bit too much.

We did venture out on Black Friday but it was only to the hardware store so not a lot of shenanigans there. People don't tend to lose their minds over a Kobalt 24-Volt Max Variable Speed Brushless Cordless Impact Driver.

Captain Snowball and Kyle were the beneficiaries of the trip to Lowe's.
The bunny got a fancy new home and the heir to the Shifley throne got a new and improved fort that included an updated roof, trap door, a swinging door and a nerf gun window.

And in another sign from the universe that I need a basset hound in my life, Frizzle and I met Herb when we were playing fetch.

I sure do miss being owned by a husky hound.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  2. I LOVE THAT POEM! You're a funny guy :) Thanks for the linkage to my blog also :)

My husband might have stared you down for Black Friday tools, but then at the last minute he'd have left with a pack of gum instead. Just saying, handymen don't have that lust for blood that five foot women have when they're out to grab a talking Christmas toy . . .

I think you made great choices for your Black Friday shopping, and hope you enjoy your turkey leftovers!

  3. Early turkey day so we could split up 3 ways to take care of dogs. I'm not sure I recommend it :)

  4. A mighty fine little bunny house. I can almost conjure up the smell, which was not bad, from my childhood.

  6. We don't celebrate like you do, although Black Friday seems to be catching on. Those of us who don't shop have to wait to celebrate Christmas on Christmas Day.

  7. What turkey day? Did I miss Christmas? Oh right I forgot about Thanksgiving. As Valerie said, we don't celebrate it here in the UK, but Black Friday seems to be gathering speed.

  8. I was as stuffed as a Thanksgiving turkey after dinner and dessert were through. There were 12 of us and five pies! I ate seconds and thirds and felt VERY uncomfortable on the drive home.
