Countdown to Nov. 21: Movie Marathon

Kyle and I started a movie marathon this past summer and it has continued into the fall. It has slowed considerably since he's back in school but we are still doing our best to expand his cinematic universe. I think it's a good list and one of the main reasons it kept growing and growing was because of Kyle showing emotional maturity. Some of the films on the list aren't recommended for 9 1/2-year-old boys but we trusted Kyle. Here they are in no particular order:
  • Night At The Museum
  • The Princess Bride
  • The Man From Snowy River
  • Jumanji
  • Indiana Jones (All of them)
  • Ghostbusters (All of them. Even the recent remake of the original)
  • Rocketman
  • 50 Shades of Grey (No way. Just seeing if you are reading the list)
  • The Goonies
  • The Chronicles of Narnia
  • The Avengers movies (I think there's about 20 of them. Kyle's favorite character was Rocket Raccoon from the Guardians of the Galaxy series. He loves saying Trash Panda)
  • Percy Jackson
  • Alpha
  • Labyrinth
I'm not sure what we are watching after Labyrinth but if you have any good suggestions, I would love to hear them. I was thinking about the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies but I am not sure.

And here's an awkward father and son photo just to make things weird.

Hope you are well. Thanks for stopping by and I will talk to you tomorrow.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  1. Okay you are going to have to explain the
    Father/Son photo.... :-)
When J was in 5th grade he really, really,
really wanted to watch Aliens. We said no
a lot. Finally we gave in. The next day he
came out of his room and told us 'never give
in to me again'. Of course last year he bought
us an Alien cookie jar for the dog treats.

  3. I highly recommend The Incredibles. Yesterday we watched the second movie, which was nearly as good as the first one. How about Up? That was a good one too.

All of the other movies we watch involve scary violence, dismemberment, copious amounts of blood, so.....probably not a good idea. And Aliens gave me nightmares for weeks, even though we went back again and again for the sequals, but the last two were awful.

  4. "The Dark Crystal" is the movie I saw when I was a kid that has had a weird after-effect on me. Made by the same crew that made "Labyrinth" but minus human characters and plus sort of mystical overtones.

  5. Marathons of any sort are tiring, don't you think? I bet the nude in the photograph felt a bit cold! Was the dog there to keep the guy warm?

  6. Is Willy Wonka starring Gene Wilder too much or too dated? I loved the film when I was a kid and I still do now.

Benji got a reboot somewhat recently. The trailer looked pretty cute. I was a huge fan of Benji back in the 70s.
