I'm more like the first GIF currently but I was definitely feeling the like the third GIF as I closed out 2017. I was a pretty happy dude just hanging out by the Christmas tree, singing carols, soaking up the holiday spirit ... then WHAM! Out of nowhere, I get pounced on like a defenseless creature by this cat assassin that harbored nothing but ill will and hatred towards my immune system. This furry, fearless, filthy, four-legged fiend delivered a nice dose of the plague and it was nighty night time for yours truly. I got sick the Friday before Christmas and I was pretty much as useless as an inflatable dartboard for several days. But we did have some fun over the holidays when I wasn't in a NyQuil-induced coma.
  • I discussed the pros and cons of "My Little Pony" with Hayden.
  • It was totes amazeballs that I only had to put two toys together this year.
  • We had a white Christmas.
  • Hayden had to visit the dentist because she had 2 cavities. The dentist was so impressed with her bravery that he had to come out to the lobby and tell me. And I told him, "That's just Hayden."
  • Kyle discovered live-action Disney shows and is watching one called "Lab Rats." It makes him LOL a lot.
  • Kyle and I went to the movies and saw "Star Wars: The Last Jedi."
  • We had the no vacancy sign up as we had family in town. 13 adults, 10 kids, and 2 Labrador Retrievers.
  • Ice skating. I thought I looked pretty good in my dark blue spandex dress.
  • No Shifleys made it to midnight on New Year's Eve this year.
  • I am reading a book. I usually do one a year and this one is called "A Tribe of Mentors."
  • Kyle is trying to set some sort of record for reading over Christmas break. The dude read 200 minutes one day alone. He loves his books.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope all is well and I will talk to you soon.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  1. J and C brought home some sort of virus from
Alaska. So far none of us have caught it....
We survived four dogs over Christmas while J&C
were up north. Hangeth in there!

  2. There's something universal going around during the holidays and afterwards. My in-laws were hit around Christmas, about the same time as you, and I'm sure you've read about my week by now. Glad to hear you're doing better.

  3. It sucks so much to be sick over the holidays but I'm glad you got to make up for it later. Sometimes you just have to do what you can, when you can. Blog on my friend!

  4. My kids love Lab Rats. They've been binge-watching it recently.

  5. TWO Labradors...OMG I would have been delirious with joy if I'd been there. Apart from your set-back it seems you had a GREAT time. Happy New Year, Matt. Let's hope it's a good one.

  6. Hmm. Did I leave a comment or not? Computer not behaving! I'm sorry you were sick over Christmas. Viruses have no respect for holidays, appointments, or pre-existing crises, rotten things that they are. I'm just cringing and waiting here.
