Random Acts of Shifeness - May Day

  • It's almost time to say goodbye to April and hello to May.
Is there anything you are looking forward to in May?
  • I am really looking forward to the unofficial start of summer and Memorial Day weekend. And I am also looking forward to warmer weather. We had a rough, historic winter in Idaho and the spring so far hasn't been that great. Lots & lots of rain and it's still been pretty cold. Some days it feels like if it wasn't for the weather then I wouldn't have anything to talk about.
Maybe Batman can hook us up with some sunshine.
  • My favorite quote about the weather is from comedian George Carlin - The weather forecast for tonight: dark.
  • Thanks for the birthday wishes. It was a good day.
  • Quote of the week - People gather bundles of sticks to build bridges they never cross. - Author unknown
  • I tend to worry a lot about stuff that never happens and that quote was a little reminder that maybe I shouldn't do that. Someone much smarter than me said, "If you want to test your memory, try to recall what you were worrying about one year ago today." Knowing me it was probably wondering if I use the phrase "Cool beans" too much.
  • I honestly have no idea what I was worried about a year ago so I do need to stop. But I also need to eliminate "Cool beans" from the vocabulary. I use it way too often and it doesn't sound as awesome as it once did in 2007.
Any suggestions on a replacement? Maybe "Chilly Legumes?"

Have a good one. Thanks for stopping by.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  1. Spicy Lentils?
Also tired of cold winds but as the

  2. Nothing wrong with cool beans. You know those people who have quirky sayings and they wouldn't be themselves if they dropped them? Yeah. Be one of those. Own it.

The weather can have a huge effect on our lives. No wonder we all like to talk about it. That Batman weather guy is awesome! I hope your spring hurries up and gets there.

  4. I'm looking forward to some better weather here in the UK too. The last few days it's been freezing cold and we've had sleet and hailstones. In April? Come on summer.

I very rarely hear anyone say cool beans. :D

  5. George Carlin's weather forecast is great. I'm looking forward to two things, birthday in May and better weather. Joe Cool has already described ours. Have a great weekend, Matt.

  6. I'm looking forward to getting our garden planted. To me that is the official start of summer. Yesterday morning it was 38 degrees! Hopefully this weekend we can get started. I have no idea what I worried about last year, but obviously it was a waste of time if I can't remember. Good thoughts and cool beans!

  8. I have no standing to comment on the weather. With the exception of a few days in March, it has been spring here in Florida since Mid February.

  9. Okay, for the cool beans replacement . . . Can't be a swearing one, and that eliminates so many that I like.

    Wicked awesome

    Super-duper

    Splendid

Tits (Oops. That's probably a swear)

Sweet Can (That's one my friends and I did that came from a Simpsons quote)

Boss Hogger (That's one my high school science teacher said he and his friends used all the time as kids)
