Two Years Later

This time two years ago I was getting ready for my book signing party.
Hard to believe it has been almost 730 days.
I'll give you a second to do the math.
Ready? OK.
I'm glad I did it as it turned out to be one of the coolest things I have done with this life of mine.
I still think it's awesome that I can type my name on the Amazon site and my book appears.
And I'm still getting royalty checks.
I earned enough this month to pay for 1 gallon of gas.
I will not be retiring any time soon thanks to my book, but I certainly didn't do it for the money.
I did it for the groupies.
Nope that's not true either.
It was a dream of mine and something I very proud that I did.
However, there are a few people who disagree completely with that statement and they were more than happy to tell me about it with an Amazon review.
Here's my favorite review from an unsatisfied customer:

I disgusted Stan.
But Stan kind of disgusted me because he doesn't know how to spell reading.
I guess we're even.
Dealing with criticism from complete strangers was by far the hardest part of writing my book.
You can't please so you might as well please yourself, right?
Well that's all for today.
Thanks again for stopping by and I will talk to you soon.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  2. I've heard it said that you haven't arrived until you've been criticized in print. You've arrived, my friend.

  3. I think it's amazing to have written and published a book. And very satisfying, I would think. I would be bothered by negative reviews also, at first, but I think I'd eventually come to your conclusion as well - please yourself and ignore people like Stan.

They down my recommend as I made the mistake of

  5. Eh, you can't please everyone. If you intend to write a book that pleases everyone, don't. That's got to be a very droll and boring book.
Yours is certainly not for everyone, but I have read my kindle version quite a few times.

  6. So you should be proud. I enjoyed 'reading' (for those who can't spell) your book and can't believe it's been that long since I bought it. Well, Matt, you can't please all of the people all of the time but you have your faithful followers to fall back on. Soppy or what... lol. Gonna celebrate the anniversary with another read. Have a great weekend.

  7. I would have been hurt if he'd spelt reading properly, but as he didn't I can't help but feel he's a bit of a twat. :D

  8. Oh poor Stan, so disgusted by reeding a book. That part of you is what we like (I'm assuming).
You had a dream, you followed it; that's what's important!
