Mr. Shife's March Madness 2016 - Day 18

Yes, I have.
I should have done the surgery much sooner.
It took about 30 minutes, and I have no complaints yet.
It was a little weird hearing someone drill a hole into your head, but other than that, the surgery was a complete success.
I get the stitches out next week.
I follow-up with the doctor once a month for the next two months.
Then in three months, I should get the processor to give me perfect hearing in my left ear.
In this day and age of instant gratification, it's going to be hard to wait but I think it will be totally worth it.

Before and After

The pink pad is for protection and I just need to keep it on until the stitches come out next week.

I apologize for not visiting your blogs today, but I'm tired and a little sore right now. I will stop by tomorrow, and I appreciate all your kind words regarding my surgery.
Take care. Talk soon.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  2. Our son had brain surgery shortly after Christmas and he ended up with over fifty stitches in his head. When time came to remove those stitches they accidentally left one in. Our son asked me to remove it with tweezers and what a mistake that was. These aren't straight staples but bend inward at the tips to keep in place. A tool needs to be used to remove them or it's quite painful. I only mention this to spare you pain if one feels lose and you're tempted to pull it out. DON"T! Glad the surgery went so well. Take care.

  4. How awesome is that? It would be hard for me to wait 3 months, but so worth it!

  5. Were you awake for the procedure? I'm assuming you were since you heard the drill. Will you be discussing the procedure when you're feeling better? I'm trying not to be nosy/ghoulish but this just fascinates me. Hope you heal well and quickly.
