L is for Laughter

I don't know if it is evident to the regular readers of this blog but I love my son a lot. And there are some days when I love him so much it hurts because he makes me laugh so hard that I almost lose control of my bodily functions.

What am I talking about?
Well I am more than happy to explain.

Every now and then Kyle likes to watch America's Funniest Videos (AFV) so we will fire up the Google machine and hopefully find him something entertaining. Well in our latest AFV adventure, Mrs. Shife and I hit the jackpot. I wish I could find just the few seconds I want to highlight, but if you don't mind obliging me, please fast forward to about 16:04 of the below video. Then watch the scene with the guy and the garbage can, then read what Kyle had to say about it.

So if you obliged me, then you just watched a video featuring a guy rolling his giant garbage can down the hill, then he slipped, all of the garbage fell out and landed on top of him. Well Kyle laughed, then looked at me and said “He got recycled.”

Like I mentioned earlier, I almost lost all control of my bodily functions because I laughed so hard. Nazareth was right, love hurts.

I don't know if this kid is going to grow up to be a comedian or a just a dude with a great sense of humor  or a guy who writes one liners for action movie stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger. I am sure Arnold will still be acting when Kyle is out on his own so that is good for Arnold if Kyle has more puns to share with the world. In case you are unfamiliar with Arnold's awesome use of the English language, I have included a scene from "Commando" featuring some of his play on words.

Kyle and Hayden hope you can make it to their next Tupperware party.

P.S. I am not 100 percent sure if I will have a blog update next week since I am getting a vasectomy next Friday. I am almost 100 percent sure I will post about the experience but I am just not sure when it will happen. Take care.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  1. Just a chip off of the old block, that boy is. Although you may not feel like posting next Friday, I'm very much looking forward to your story about the adventure to Sniptown.

  2. Never mind skipping to the end.... I watched every scene... grins. Hey, will you book me a place at the next Tupperware party so that Kyle can regale me with more humour.

Hope all goes well with the snipping, see you when you get back.

  4. Brilliant. We could do Mystery Science Theater 3000 with a handful of three year old and make a fortune.
If they don't put you completely under for the procedure, you could always live blog the event.

  5. The humor of babies. Yesterday I had Owen here and he got a piece of gum and I said, "Owen, you're supposed to ask me before you get a piece of gum."
    He said, 'I asked myself."

  6. Little known fact: Arnold made that line up on the spot!

Your son is sure on his way to, at the very least, have a fantastic sense of humor! Must get it from your wife... ;)

And I would have thought you'd be tweeting/blogging/FBing DURING the procedure. It makes me sad that you won't be....

  8. "He got recycled"!!From the mouths of babes...Too funny man. No doubt the chip's picking up traits from the old block. You're a pretty funny guy yourself. That's funny you posting Commando, Husband and I had a schwarzenegger-thon a few months back. Geez, those movies of his were the ultimate cheese and a goldmine of one-liners. So bad it's good.Oh and tell Hayden to put me down for a set of dishes.;-D Stay healthy and happy. It's the only way to be....and no live texting the procedure...

  9. Oh I didn't mean to imply you were posting sans underwear either. I just reread what I wrote after the fact and it's an awkward read unless folks know you I suppose. Commando the movie not the lifestyle.

  12. The neat thing about this blog is, you start feeling like a long lost cousin or something, checking in to see how your kinfolks are doing.

  13. My computer wouldn't let me skip up that far without having to watch for a while, and I couldn't take it any longer. I think I would rather watch the kid drop one liners like Ron Jeremy than watch that show. "Looooove hurts!!"

  14. Kyle is so bright! I'm sure he gets his sense of humor from you. I laughed pretty hard over it myself.

As I recall tupperware parties like that tended to be loud but happy, especially if I gave them a spoon for proper banging. My littlest preferred to wear one on his head.
    Delightful!

Well, good for you! I hope it is not too bad. Maybe they will give you some nice drug that will help.
