April Mayhem

I feel like I need to bust out a Lionel Richie song.

Hello!
Is it me you're looking for?
I can see it in your eyes.
I can see it in your smile.

I was enjoying my little blog break but we also have been pretty busy this month after we just got done with March Madness.
  • First we had the post-Kyle's birthday hangover. We all had to detox from the sugar high.
  • Then we had his first day of swim lessons. He barely made the cut off for 3-year-olds so we were little concerned that this might be too much for him because he is in the pool all by himself with the instructor and 2 other kids, but so far he is doing OK. The only real problem for him is staying warm because he has no body fat at all.
  • Next up was a trip to the doctor for Kyle and Hayden's wellness visits. They are both doing fine and heading in the right direction.
  • After that I got a little surprise that one of my stories was published in an anthology to help out a writer friend who had surgery to remove a brain tumor. All the details are here and I appreciate everyone who helped me pick the story.
  • We then wrapped up the week by taking Kyle to the dentist, and this had me really worried because I was afraid of bottle mouth. We are bad sometimes and let him take a sippy cup full of juice to bed which is not really good for his teeth. Fortunately everything was OK and he just needs to say bye to his binky, which is another thing he only gets when he takes a nap or goes night night.
  • Finally we added "Yo Gabba Gabba" to Kyle's cartoon rotation and I have some really awesome - and I by awesome I mean "This is so awful. My ears are going to sue me." - songs stuck in my head.
There's a party in my tummy,
    So yummy, so yummy!
There's a party in my tummy,
    So yummy, so yummy!
  • I feel extremely confident in saying that this is the first time I began a blog post with Lionel Richie lyrics and ended it with a Yo Gabba Gabba song. Yay me!!!!
  • So how has your April been so far?

Stick 'em up monster ... It is clobberin' time!!!!

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  1. Yay for two good wellness reports!

Good for you for getting Kyle into swimming lessons. But poor cold guy. I wonder if you can get a wet suit that small?

Congratulations on having your story published! I will keep good thoughts for your friend.

Glad that someone besides me is haunted by Yo Gabba Gabba songs! My grandson Turkey loves that show.

So far my April has been wonderful. I expect it to continue as my oldest son and my newest grand baby (5 weeks) are coming to visit me in 2 days! Woot! I hope your April continues to be great too!

  2. Thank you for the kind words on my site. It's never easy, but you always appreciate the support of friends.
My son lost interest in Yo Gabba Gabba pretty quickly. More accurately, he probably got tired of me calling that guy "Russian Army Urkel" like they do on The Soup.

  3. Gabba Gabba yikes! Could be worse. Barney comes to mind... APril is full of good changes coming about. I believe Husband and I are both leveling up (God willing). So looking forward to it.

Lionel Richies is awesome. Dancing on the Ceiling? So totally 80s and fer sure ;-)

  4. A lot of good 'firsts'. Our daughter never really made it in swimming lessons. The teachers got tired of her scaredy cat act and one dunked her without warning and a few years later, another made her swim the width back and forth. After she went under, I was done with lessons. Sadly though, at age 16, she cannot swim. She also used a binky until age 4!

Congrats on your story and what a nice thing to do for a friend.

I'm heartbroken that I missed the whole Yo Gabba thing ;-)

  9. Good to see you back here! And glad to hear the kiddos are doing well.

Congrats on being published. That's fantastic.

Yo Gabba Gabba was banned in my home. I refused to let it air on my television. A parent sometimes has to put their foot down.

Instead, I have my oldest son watching old Voltron and Robotec. My daughter loves watching the cheesy She-Ra shows. And my youngest will watch whatever the oldest two are watching.

Also the picture of Kyle and the foam monster is awesome! My boys would love that monster!
