March Madness - Day 2

My parenting thought of the week. Some days you feel like you are in control of the chaos and other days you feel like you are just thrust into the middle of a swirling vortex of madness.
The best analogy I could think of is football. Sometimes a player comes into the game from the sideline, gets into the huddle, hears the play, gets into formation, and then runs the play. Sounds great, right? It would be pretty hard to run the play if you run onto the field when they have already hiked the ball. Well that is how I felt today. I woke up and as soon as I went into the living room the play was already happening. Kyle was playing with his cousin, who is 1 1/2, and by playing I mean running through the house like their pants were on fire. Tank was contributing to the atmosphere by actually believing that everyone under 3 feet tall had their pants on fire and had to knock them down so they could stop, drop, and roll. Then my wife had company over so there was a lively discussion going on in the dining room about lamps or throw rugs or something like that.=) But I beat my consecutive days alive streak so I can't complain about too much. Happy Friday everyone. Hope you are finding the positive.

My favorite little cook in the whole wide world.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  1. I felt the same way tonight, chasing Colin around a clothing store, yelling "Give me back that hat!". Some days we win, some we lose.
I think if you give us another five years or so, we can write a book on raising kids from the Dad's perspective. I'm sure there's a ton out there, but what's one more log on the fire?

  2. Ha! I like that chef.

Sounds like March Madness alright! I remember running and our basset grabbing our pant leg cuffs. He could drop us like a rock... then lick our faces silly. Good times!

  4. March madness maybe, but you sure get a lot of fun out of it. Loved the picture of your new chef. Care to loan him out for the day, or week, or even longer to satisfy my longing for a little boy around the place again ... smiles.

  5. Mr. Moon just asked me why the baseball bat was on top of the refrigerator. Then he said, "Was Owen busting stuff with it?"
    "Uh-huh," I said.
I know exactly what you are talking about.
