Happy New Year

Hello there.
How is 2012 treating you?
The Shifes are doing good.
Thank you for asking.
The big change so far is that daddy daycare is up and running again. I have a new client and she is wonderful. She just eats and sleeps. I think I will keep her around.
My old client requires a lot more of my attention.
I feel like I am Jack Bauer on "24" running around trying to diffuse a terrorist situation.
2 1/2-year-olds are little balls of energy who emotions shift from utter happiness to sheer despair constantly. But I would not change anything. Those 2 kids make the future worth living and fighting for, and also makes me thankful.
I am tapping into the power of gratitude, and hope that being more grateful leads to more happiness and optimism. The really awesome thing about gratitude is that it does not cost anything.

“You simply will not be the same person two months from now after consciously giving thanks each day for the abundance that exists in your life. And you will have set in motion an ancient spiritual law: the more you have and are grateful for, the more will be given you.” — Sarah Ban Breathnach

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  1. You and your 'clients' crack me up. I truly believe in the power of being grateful; but I just find it hard to keep it up for more than a few days. I'm inspired by you though ;-) And I'll send you a maple bar, on the house.

  2. Yay! I could not agree more about the power of gratitude. It is the first rule in my life. Because I have done without, because I have been desperately lonely, because there are those that I have loved from the bottom of my soul... who have given me so much in return.
It is a wonderful thing, my dear Shife to realize what you have and how precious it is! Big hugs!

Amen! Mind you, I had to smile at the way you refer to the little ones as clients. Don't forget to keep the camera handy.

    Happy New Year.

  4. Ah- I think of you here at Grandmother-Daycare. Two-and-a-half-year-old-boys are a force of NATURE! And soon, I too, shall have a new client.
    Oh my.
I am going to remember gratitude. Thank-you for reminding me.
Happy New Year to you and your beautiful, beautiful family.

  7. Man, it is hard to be grateful sometimes! I know, so stupid, considering how much I already have. I like your idea. I'm going to try it.

Have fun with your new client! Happy New Year, Shifles!

  8. I really like that pic, lots of things going on. We should all try to be a little more grateful for the things we have.

  9. It is amazing to see that through all of the aggravation that children cause, it is eventually all worth it (even if the kid scratched the screen of my new TV).
