A Whole Different World

"The true voyage of discovery,
lies not in seeking new landscapes,
but in having new eyes."

As I get closer and closer to the big day of Mrs. Shife and I bringing home a baby the above quote is becoming more and more relevant. In less than 3 months I will be a Dad - or Padre to all my Spanish-speaking blogging friends - and I am really seeing the world in a whole new way. It also might have something to do with my new crank habit.
But seriously there are just so many different thoughts, dreams, fears, and expectations running through my head on a daily basis. Looking at people, movies, words, diapers, and life in a different light.
I can only imagine how much my life is going to change and I can't wait. But it is also a little frightening.
It is weird being scared shitless and excited at the same time.

  4. What Megan said. I gotta say, I'm looking forward to the baby part again myself, maybe. They smell good, that is when their diaper's not full, and they are very bitable. Also the first giggle is awesome. And just remember, you'll be an expert in no time!

  5. just keep thinking about all the cool toys you can buy. maybe a giant model train set with tunnels, trellises, grain silos and water towers.

  6. I want to have kids someday, but I think it would scare the shit out of me... 'cause I'm just a big kid.

  7. Well, you should be scared but on the other hand, when the baby is born and you hold that child, you're going to change into a person who can handle things that you never would have dreamt of being able to handle before. With joy!
Oh, I envy you in some ways.

Are you fucking insane? Do you really think that this planet needs another idiot on it just because you was horny?

    Big mistake.

  10. You are not thinking about that child's future at all, are you?

Got a will, a big life insurance policy to care for it in case something happens to you?

    I didn't think so.

  11. There is no way in hell that I would bring another child onto this planet and subject it to what it is going to have to go through.

  12. Aww, so exciting! You're going to be a great dad!

  13. Hey BBC - suck a muffler.
And everyone else needs to shout "Big Ass Titties" because the Cardinals made it to the NFC Championship game. If you don't give a shit about a football I understand but this is a big deal. The Cardinals are in the NFC championship game. This might be the end of days.
