Any guesses on what the Shifleys are up to this weekend?
If you said a hot yoga marathon, then you clearly don't know us at all.
But if you guessed a dusty, caffeine-fueled softball tournament?
Bingo. You win.
And what do you win?
Well, how does a VIP ticket to an exclusive 2 a.m. acoustic howling concert by Lucy sound? (No refunds, transport not included).
However, until I can get that squared away, enjoy some recent photos:
Ms. Frizzle got a sunroof.
She cut herself on something so the vet needed to shave the area to treat the wound.

Lucy was concerned she might get an awful haircut, so she is staying far away until the coast is clear.
It's been a hot minute since I hurt myself playing softball, but I tweaked my hamstring recently and got my 157th bruise from playing softball. If you are keeping track at home, this confirms that you can't teach an old dog new tricks because the old dog is an idiot for still playing softball.
After I told Lucy she wasn't going to get a Frizzle patch, she calmed down by taking her 17th nap of the day. I had a hard time telling if she was comfortable.
My weekend project was putting together a new vanity for Hayden. It wasn’t from IKEA, but it had all the same energy—it took three agonizing hours and left me with enough leftover parts to build a second, smaller vanity. But hey, it doesn't wobble! It honestly reminds me of that old IKEA joke... Sorry, I’d tell it to you, but you'd have to assemble the punchline yourself

Lucy, Lucy, Lucy. It's a hard life. Hope Ms. Frizzle heals (and grows back) quickly!

DeleteThere were many caffeine fueled gymnastics matches in my past. Wonderful, although tiring and stressful (and expensive) memories. I'm glad you still play softball and are still hustling, but does your body?

DeleteI have so much PTSD from putting together things I purchased from IKEA. It always looks good in the showroom, but then I put it together and it wobbles and looks tacky in my home. Why do I keep going back? It is mainly to eat the Swedish meatballs…but then I walk through the showrooms and think “hey that’s cute”.

DeleteI love Ms Fizzle's sunroof ~ very chic. However, from previous experience, I know that areas like that can be sunburned if she's outside for hours. Please do not ask how I know that dogs can be sunburned, :-)

For fun, go online with the query "racquetball bruises", which look like you were bombed with a donut. I have had many of those!
Thanks for the online suggestion and Hayden has heard all of the colorful language for most of her life so I don't think anything surprises her anymore.
DeleteIt's going to be really really hot for the baseball tournament. Seek shade when possible. Get some of cool towel thingy's you put in the freezer then put around your neck or over your head. Good luck. Poor Lucy, hope she heals quickly. OUCH, that bruise of yours is going to take a long time to heal. Good luck on all fronts.

DeleteI'll pass on that 2 AM concert. Thankfully, the one dog in our "neighborhood" who often barks is several hundred yards away (as are all the neighbors, an advantage of living in the sticks).
