Thought of the day
In this episode of Time Flies, the calendar is spinning faster than ever.
I am now officially living with a high school senior and a freshman.
Today marks the final bell of the school year for Kyle and Hayden.
Cue Alice Cooper:
It feels like just yesterday we were packing elementary school lunchboxes, and now we’re staring down the barrel of senior year.
For the love of fat bassets, I don't know if I am emotionally ready for this.
Cue: R.E.M.
That's me in the corner
That's me with the tissues, losing my cool completely
Trying to keep up with time
And I don't know if I can do it
Oh no, senior year is here
I haven't processed it enough
So that is what I will be doing over the Memorial Day weekend.
What do you have planned?
Thanks for stopping by, and I will talk to you soon.
Meme dump
I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.

Having a senior in high school was tough but sending them to college the following year is tougher. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
ReplyDeleteWell thanks for stopping by, sunshine. 😁
DeleteJeez, Ed, I haven't even finished my caffeine intake yet.
It makes sense, though.
Right now he plans to stay local for college but that could all change.
I can promise you that last meme has crossed my mind before.
ReplyDeleteMany, many times for me as well, Kelly.
DeleteHigh school senior! How did that happen? My older daughter will turn 40 this year! That makes me feel ancient.
ReplyDeleteIt's bonkers, Margaret.
DeleteHa, cue The Weeknd.
ReplyDeleteYes! Nice one, DB.
DeleteEnjoy the summer, all of you!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debra. You too!
DeleteEvery time I see a kid I want to trip them.
ReplyDeleteKidding.
Or am I?
I vote that you are not kidding.
DeleteI agree with Ed; it's a rough ride :'( Make this summer epic!
ReplyDeleteI will do my best, kden.
DeleteOh shoot.
ReplyDeleteAnd not the shot/hang/frame meme you’ve got there. It’s senior year and then COLLEGE. THAT one is gonna trigger you to no end.
Lunchboxes!
XOXO
It will indeed, Sixpence.
DeleteWhen I wanted a baby no one told me they grow up!! No one said, "But wait... what about introduction to solid foods? Toilet training? School choices? Braces. Driver's license... boyfriends/girlfriends. MARRIAGE??!"
ReplyDeleteI just wanted that sweet creature that snuggles up to your neck and makes squeaky noises and smells yummy. (well most of the time)
Also, they leave. They stop living at your house and go have their own lives.
Sorry. Wasn't sure if you knew.
I sure as hell didn't.
In fact, I'm still a little surprised. :)
My babies are 39 and 33 this year and I simply can't believe it.
I can't believe how fast it goes either.
DeleteSenior Year! How can it be??
ReplyDeleteI'll be enjoying an outdoor wedding in the rain tomorrow. Happy Memorial Day!
Looks like you had a wonderful May, Bijoux.
DeleteRight on cue our 'summer' weather is days of scattered showers and temperatures that are definitely not pool-worthy.
ReplyDeleteSounds about right.
DeleteBut you know, Alice Cooper was my generation! That makes me feel even older. And I love that alligator meme.
ReplyDeleteHe's the only one that has a school's out for summer anthem.
DeleteYes, I recall School Out For The Summer. Can you believe Alice Cooper is 78 years old.
ReplyDeleteWow. I had no idea AC was that far up there.
DeleteThe best day of the year
ReplyDeleteIt is one of their favorites.
DeleteOh Senior year! Buckle up Buttercup comes to mind. The emotions around applying to colleges and waiting to see if you get in are all over the place. On one hand it's exciting, on the other if they don't get what they think they want it can be hard. Luckily for us, our daughter applied early decision and knew before the Christmas break that she was in. And it was her first choice. Back them if you applied early decision, you couldn't apply elsewhere until you heard. She had done a summer taking college classes between her junior and senior year at Washington University in St. Louis and knew that's where she wanted to go. But, I well remember some of her friends barely getting their paper work done by the deadline which drove their parents really mad. Best of luck to you and to your rising senior. Now we experience it through stories our daughter tells us, as she is a HS Counselor and helps them with their selections, essays, test prep etc.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sandy!
DeleteKids really do grow up so fast. My grandson is going into 8th grade. And he's now taller than I am.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't measured recently but I think Mrs. Shife is the shortest one in the household now.
DeleteSwim up blackjack! That is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteMy grandson is heading into 10th grade. He has a mustache. Time flies. And yes. College is so much harder.
I am just taking it one day at a time. Otherwise, I would lose all of the shit.
