Thought of the day
I was recently asked to name the most boring thing about me.
It was a struggle to answer, mostly because—when you get right down to it—I am a deeply boring individual. I finally landed on this:
I get genuinely excited when the clock hits 8:30 PM, because that’s the official threshold where I stop feeling guilty about going to bed.
I know, I’m a total wild man.
Part of it is because I start my day before the sun does, but the bigger part is that sticking to a routine is a cornerstone of my sobriety. It turns out "boring" is actually a pretty great way to stay on track.
What is most boring thing about you?
Talk to you tomorrow.

I too am genuinely excited when 8:30 pm arrives, but since you beat me to that response, I'll just say this -- I actually enjoy reading legislation.
ReplyDeleteWell that is interesting, Debra.
DeleteNothing wrong with boring OR going to bed early. Excellent memes, especially the first one. ☠️
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong indeed.
DeleteI'm generally excited for 8 pm because that is my bar for allowing myself to go to bed.
ReplyDeleteSounds good to me, Ed.
DeleteMy bedtime is generally 10 ... so I love when the clock chimes that number.
ReplyDeleteGoddess we're all boring up in here!
Sleep is important, Bob!
DeleteI'm with the 'not too early to go to bed' contingent, although I rarely turn in that early. My standard is to wait until after the 9:00 news weather report :-)
ReplyDeleteGood plan, Kathy.
DeleteTo an onlooker, everything about me is boring. I'm content with that.
ReplyDeleteI'm content with your contentness.
DeleteFor me, boring is another word for stable, secure and steady. I do best on a routine, even if it's a lazy one.
ReplyDeleteRoutine is really important for me too.
DeleteMy dog thinks *PM is bedtime but he won't get in his bed unless I go in the bedroom with him, shut the door, turn the nightlights on and sit in my chair reading. Then he'll go in his bed or mine and go to sleep. If I don't go in my room at 8PM, Falcor will sit in front of my staring into my soul, and glance at the bedroom until I get up and go in there. He's bossy.
ReplyDeleteFalcor is awesome!!
Delete8:30 is my happy hour too!
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
DeleteI love being able to make the bed every morning. Sad but true. It makes me happy.
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with that, Debby!
