Thought of the day

  • Do you warm up your car? Or preheat it? I have always "warmed up" my car, but Hayden asked me if I "preheated" it, and I had to chuckle because I thought the phrase was funny.  I also didn't realize that warming up your car, aka puffing, was illegal in some states.

  • Any Super Bowl plans? Is hate-watching considered a plan? I don't like either team, so I would be happy if they both somehow lost.

  • The world is not held together by the loud and the proud; it is held together by the glue people. The ones who know that the only way to fix a broken world is one small act of kindness at a time. One heart at a time. One person at a time. So, if you feel like the world is falling apart, look for the glue people. And if you can’t find one, be one. - Donna Ashworth

  1. I think the animal cruelty registry is an excellent idea!! I've always believed there was a special place in hell for people that abuse animals, children, and old people.

  2. Yes, since I live in the Great White North of Ice and Snow, I always warm up my car if it is 0ºC or colder. In fact, I have a Command Start function on my vehicle so it will start by itself and warm up while I'm still inside. Command Start is God's gift to Canadians. We have "anti-idling" bylaws for vehicles too but they don't apply in cold weather. Even in warm weather, I have never ever heard of anyone getting such a ticket if they, for example, keep their car running while waiting in line at a drive-through or touchless car wash (two very common areas where idling occurs).

I never watch American football but I intend to watch the Bad Bunny halftime show and also Lady Gaga as the pre-game show.

Every one of your memes is stellar, LOL! Especially FIFA Academy Awards!

    1. Oops, my bad. Lady Gaga is not scheduled. The pregame show is by Green Day. Brandi Carlile is singing "America the Beautiful" though, so that's almost as good!

    2. Then I am out. 😁

  3. I have never preheated or warmed up my vehicle. It feels about like what throwing a few bills out my front door after lighting them on fire before going somewhere might feel like.

I only watch the Superbowl for the commercials and the halftime show. This year I'm just down to the commercials since I don't care for misbehaving rabbits. I'll probably be in bed by halftime.

  4. I don't warm up, preheat or puff my car, but I do keep a blankie in it for my legs!

  5. I have warmed up the car on incredibly cold mornings ... below 25-degrees or so.

I am stunned the state of Flori-duh has done something decent.

Gemma Pell. I will be giggling at that for several days.

    Have a great weekend!

  6. The question for me would be: would I warm up my car if I had to? Probably, yes. I live in a temperate climate though and my car is garaged, so I just get in it and drive away. (after opening the garage door of course) I live near Seattle so of course I'm rooting for the Seahawks. New England has already won too many times. Let us have this one!

    1. We converted the garage to a playroom for the kids when they were little and now it is Kyle's video game palace/Mrs. Shife's workout area/Hayden's indoor pitching place so we are doing more puffing than the usual folks.

  7. Oh, i usually park outside so i warm up the engine for a few minutes. One or three. Someone told me it was good. Especially when it’s minus three degrees in Chi.
And I’m watching Bad Bunny during the half time, of course. I watch football without volume because all the men have giant shoulders and tight pants.
    Priorities.

    XOXO

  8. I don't need to warm up my car, but I do have to preheat Balder Half if I'm in the mood for a ride. I know. I know. TMI. No plans for the Super Bowl (what a silly name). I hate sports.

  9. The animal cruelty registry should be everywhere.

  10. We have been warming our vehicles for about 3 weeks now. It turns out that Bad Bunny has done quite a bit of good in his life. 11. Here it's illegal to run your car without you in it. But they do, and they get stolen. It really hasn't been cold enough so haven't even heard of any thefts. Ha, I hate sports too Deedles!

  12. All three cars in this household have features where you can remote start the car to warm it up. Two of the three cars use such feature, I refuse on principle. I agree with the idea of an animal cruelty registry and would like to add at least one person who lives about 1/4 mile from me to the list! And "past tents" is pretty funny.
