Thought of the day
I have to send back my hearing aid to the manufacturer.
The hearing aid comes in a small box, which I plan to return.
All in all, the box is about the size of one of my Funko Pop dudes.
Judging by what showed up on my porch, I think someone else might need a hearing aid.
The hearing aid box measures about 3.5 x 2.5 x 1, and the Cochlear box measures 13 x 21 x 13, which means I could fit 390 hearing aid boxes in there or:
- About 275 baseballs
- About 11 bowling balls
- About 28 full cheesecakes (9‑inch rounds).
- About 10 squished‑down adult Deadpool costumes in plastic bags.
- About 3 boxed tea sets (teapot plus cups).
- About 23,000 3x5 note cards with basset hound portraits
- 4 full‑sized basketballs and a mini hoop set
- 6 full board games (Monopoly, Clue, etc.), plus 1 set of emotional support fuzzy dice.
- 1 entire winter’s worth of mismatched socks that Ms. Frizzle swears she didn’t steal when she was a puppy
- 40 rolled‑up movie posters in case you want to start a Gerard Butler Cinematic Universe wall
Finding the positivity
Adding something new to the blog to remind myself to look for the good in the world and hopefully spark some joy in yours.

They only sent you THAT box because they didn't have a BIGGER one, lol. Thanks for that link to the terrific story about the shop students giving their fixed-up cars to single moms. Nice to see a heartwarming story like that. Now I must confess I stole that jislord meme for my next NSFW post.

DeleteMy cardboard recycling is overwhelming at times and I am not much of a consumer. I replaced two toilets in my house recently, the first time I have ever done so in my life, and just the cardboard from toilet completed filled up my 50 gallon cardboard recycling bin. I'll have to recycle the other one next week and then play catchup with the normal inflow of cardboard probably for a couple weeks after that.

Do they have to be extremely protected and cushioned and that's why it's such a big box? Otherwise, what a waste! I didn't realize that you were getting hearing aids. I must have missed something!

DeleteI bought a home gym and it came in 5 cardboard boxes, which filled my 125 gallon recycling bin twice. There was so much cardboard, it had no room for my wine bottles. Don't ask Why.

DeleteThe bean counter decided that if the worker has to walk more than 24.3 feet to get a small box, it's more cost efficient just to use a big box.

DeleteHow is the hearing aid working for you? I feel as though we can't win with packaging. It's either a ridiculously oversized box, or they just send it in the original packaging and leave it on your front porch in a snow drift or puddle.

DeleteThat box reminds me of after my mom passed, I wanted to send a tiny bit of ashes to a company to add it to glass art. The postal service is very picky about sending human remains so I ordered 3 boxes from them for that purpose. I was expecting tiny boxes but they were huge, for an urn, along with tape that specified what was in the box. Faith and I laughed so hard and still have plenty of tape so when we use it, we call it funeral tape.

DeleteThank you for the cheerful story. We can all use one. Bijoux's comment gave me a laugh. I found a package in a snowbank. It had been completely buried by passing snow plows.

DeleteSeems like everyone does that with boxes. I had a small pair of earrings from Amazon and they sent it in a box big enough for a 10 inch frying pan.

DeleteIt's amazing what things are sometimes shipped in... As one with an undergraduate philosophy degree, I don't think I would cite it as qualifications when confronted with the wrong end of a gun.
