Thought of the day
Are you a fan of spooky season? It’s crisp outside, it’s Friday, and there’s football on, so I’ve got zero complaints.
Besides, nobody came here to read me whining on a Friday.
You’re here for the real stars of the show: Ms. Frizzle and Lucy.
Naturally, both girls are officially sporting their Halloween-themed collars.
Fashion first.
The basset also demanded that I introduce you to her new best friend: Bear.
Bear is a stuffed animal currently in medical rehab at Casa de Shife. He works with Mrs. Shife at her pediatric clinic, where he recently survived a few overly aggressive toddlers who took liberties with his ears. Lucy doesn't care that he's missing some stuffing and smells like hand sanitizer—she thinks he’s an absolute ten.
Meanwhile, Ms. Frizzle has unexpectedly become my new football buddy. Now I just need to figure out if she actually understands zone coverage or if she’s just developing a tragic fondness for her version of a Bear. (The photo is a little grainy, but that's Chicago and Philly on the screen—and Frizzle was locked in.)
Meme dump
I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.

Hahahahaha, the dog's three wishes from the genie!
ReplyDelete*fans self* Well, hello, Michael!
ReplyDeleteAnd I don’t have daughters, yet I’ve watched the six hours of P&P multiple times!
Omg BEAR!
XOXO
Lucy and Bear are worth the price of admission this week! Love their collars.
ReplyDeleteThat's Pat in the last meme. 🙄
I'm not into Halloween anymore but I do like the month of October for it's weather! I've never owned a dog that wouldn't have chewed off the ears or disemboweled a stuff animal within a couple hours.
ReplyDeleteMy wife and I had dogs since we got married over 30 years ago, but lost our last one last Spring. Hence, I love reading your dogs' anecdotes. Today was no exception. Lucy may need to visit a doggy therapist when Mrs. Shife takes Bear back to work at the pediatric clinic. And beware, Ms. Frizzle may soon demand a Chicago football team sweatshirt, because it'll match the colors of her Halloween dog collar best. Oh, and it's true, as the father of 2 girls, I've watched a couple of versions of Pride and Prejudice. Peace, my friend!
ReplyDeleteOkay, the bassett and the bear are just too cute. Please don't make me want an dog again.
ReplyDeleteI love fall and the cooler, darker weather. That's a HUGE bear! Having company for football is great; my cat isn't very interested.
ReplyDeleteI’m totally ready for autumn! I just wish it would cool off a bit here in SoCal!
ReplyDeleteLucy is soooo adorable with Bear! How will Mrs. Shife ever take him back to work?? Enjoy your weekend of football with The Frizzle.
ReplyDeleteI love the new addition, Bear, to your home. You said you had crisp air. Taunting me are ya? it's 90 today but they are threatening fall like temps this weekend. Fingers crossed. I want to be outside dang it.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I too know some aggressive toddlers, lol.
ReplyDelete(I will never not find Uranus funny.)
Those dogs sure have a comfortable life. Enviable.
ReplyDeleteThe guy with the tea mug in the microwave is pretty bad, but I recall back at university hearing of a guy who said he realized he needed to cut back on the drugs after he was out driving one day and stopped at a stop sign for two minutes waiting for it to turn green -- and it did.
Your canines are styling!
ReplyDeleteGreat post, I loved it, and always loved pic of the dog. The jason face freaks me out. There is a guy who stands where 115 intersects Route 1 in Foxborough who usually dresses up as an Indian and dances around for a few hours. The other day, he chose another face mask. He wore the jason mask. He was riding a bike and he turned to look at me with that face. Freaked me the hell out.
ReplyDeleteI'm dying over Lucy and Bear. Those photos are hilarious!
ReplyDeleteAww Lucy is too cute.
ReplyDeleteThe mug in the microwave...some days we just need our caffeine a little more than usual.
ReplyDeleteThat whole Lucy and her bear is just great.
I'm always ready for spooky season.
ReplyDeleteThe best thing about the cooler temps is that the Howie's fur stays where it should, in his coat.
